Artist to Know: Relly Snow
1.Who are you?
Relly Snow, Also known as Bon Foster
2.Where are you from?
New York City, Midtown. Behind Lincoln Center, where fashion shows be happening, but I’m from the projects
3.What makes you different from other people?
I call my genre of music “Royal” . I talk about how to make anything in the dark be the brightest thing. I try to take people outside their lonely to my empire. When i write my music i am talking from a king perspective, it also matches the heavy hitting production i got behind me. I have different moods, different ways to pull you into my world. For some reason being the best you can be is timeless, whatever you view yourself as the world will see it too. I am a king, & i am giving you my soundtrack.
4. When did you start making music?
The first thing i wrote was a hook after listening to stunt 101 by g-unit. That was at the age of 9. I was rapping all the way till i was 13, i stopped till i turned 18. When i turned 18 i started taking it really serious, and got into production and vibes and feeling. Before all since really young i grew up to all types of music, because my family loved partying. What i would do as a kid is sit down, watch people dance and analyze what makes them dance, but i didn’t know i was analyzing. Since young i listened to a rhythm different than everyone else, at least i think.
5. Your favorite artist ?
The mother of my style is M.I.A. The father of my style is Pharrell/N.E.R.D. M.I.A production is legendary to me, i like how catchy she makes herself sound, i also like the fact she don’t say much, she keeps her stanzas short, but yet with powerful and revolutionary messages. Pharrell voice and sound is appealing, listening to pharrell i learned how to create a vibe, how to pull someone into your world.
6. What do you think your biggest accomplishment this year has been?
We on july now, well one big accomplishment i can say is, i finished my EP fortune. it will be broken down to 3 eps. (Gold, Emerald, Ruby). Three tracks each. & We now have Kings Of The Youth & My nigga mimic is down.
7. Favorite song from Pharrell?
My favorite song is provider. i was selling weed for 3 days to that song, while all of my friends was listening to harder shit. i was in bootcamp in maine bumping that song, it reminds of supa fly. Makes me feel cool, cause its not hiphop, he’s not even rapping, and he’s telling you how he gon slang his dope, how his family need him. Its really amazing how he put that together. I try my best to do the same now a days.
8. What do you do when you aren’t making music?
Im either thinking of ideas, designing clothes, rehearsing, or picturing scenarios for videos, i also love picturing my future cast members. I do a lot of picturing in my mind, because if you can see it in your mind, your eyes can see it. Creating my own reality is what i do when I’m not making music. I also watch movies, and steal everything they have going on. yeah I’m also stealing if I’m not making music. thats for sure.
9. How competitive is the music scene in ny or does it not even bother you?
Theres no competition, not to sound cocky. once you have your own sound, nobody can stop you. The thing with new york though, the unity is off. Everyone is pushing people away and taking, taking, taking. Everyone want the spotlight, no one know how to make one person the star, they all want to be the star. the best thing about New York City is the amount of creative teenagers we have walking in the street, with no type of sign that they are the best at what they do. Its why is awesome to talk to random people in the city, everyone in here got something special, you just don’t know yet and they’re all in front of a computer screen trying to let the world know.
That is what’s up man thanks for taking the time to do this interview anything you want to say to the kids?
You can never give up. Im not where i want to be, and I’m not going to give up. I want people to know when i did this interview i didn’t have shit. i only have 10 dollars in my pockets. No job, my mother is also getting old, but I’m not giving up. Im on the same boat as you dreamers, and I’m not going to give up, I’m seeing changes and I’m glad, and some hours of the day i feel like none of this can happen, the next hour comes and i know I’m wrong. All of this can happen. I literally have nothing right now but my art, my art is now my ship. & i want all of you to know anything can happen, jayz, donald trump, emma stone is no different from you, the only difference is they really really believe in themselves, %100. You must do the same, nothing in world is much more important than feeding the ones you love before you die. Have short and long term goals, but you’re short term goals will help you the most. if you feel like you didn’t find yourself, you must be next to the best, you must dig deep inside yourself. As soon as you copy someone else’s style, you will loose yourself, what god made will be a waste. I am kid who’s 21 from manhattan, i am brown skin like billions of ppl in his world, and each morning and night, i say to myself, what can i do to change the world?. You should too, because we are the future
